Jim McClanahan’s Story

I have struggled with my weight most of my life. At my worst, I weighed 340lbs. As my fiftieth birthday approached, I committed myself to working out regularly and surrounded myself with people/friends that were knowledgeable in the area of fitness and nutrition. A vital part of my nutrition plan has been Beverly International supplements. The quality and taste is second to none. (Thanks to Facebook and my food pics I have people eating UMP pancakes that have never even stepped foot in a gym.)

I recently retired after 31 years of law enforcement. I started training for the NPC Northern more than a year ago with Jason Theobald’s help on nutrition & conditioning advice.

Knowing the quality of competitors the NPC Northern KY Championships has drawn over the years, I entered the Masters 50+ with little expectation of “winning” anything. I had hoped to do my personal best and at the very least I wanted to look like I had earned the right to be up there on stage. But then I was called out in the top five and pulled out a 3rd place win, it was a dream come true.

P.S. I am convinced that if not for all of the wonderful people in my life (such as you and Roger) who have played a role in changing my mind and my body, I would not be alive to experience this “rebirth” of life and my retirement. I am truly blessed.
